Head First Sliding: Recipe For Disaster. SEE PHOTO OF BAD HEAD FIRST SLIDE

Head first sliding to return to a base to avoid a catcher or pitcher pickoff. Not to paralyze a base stealer and baseball player. Does anyone believe this kid was taught to slide this way? Coaches wake up. control your players, and effectively teach a bent-leg pop-up with a fadeaway to each side of a base or home.

Worst Slide Ever

  1. In MLB up to July 4th, I have observed the following by watching the Giants and their opponents:

    1. Of all slides attempted at second, third, and home, 96 par cent hace been bent-leg.
    2. Common mistakes observed:
    a. Not throwing the arms back paat the ears at take-off.
    b. Not counting steps to takeoff point resulting in contacting base too lafe in
position to pop-up to base or home.
    c. Not sliding to each side of home or a base. Or, away from tag!
    d. Praacticing and mastering sliding on the left or right leg as the bent leg!

Video analysis of all slides and intermittent practice on a smooth surface with minimal friction!
